Texas now has two ways to get your License To Carry (LTC). You can sit in a classroom for 4 to 6 hours, or you can enroll online and take your class at your own pace, whenever you want, wherever you want.
With our Online LTC Course you can take the Texas DPS Approved course on your phone, tablet or computer. You can take your time, a little at a time, and take it wherever you are. You can go back and review a section if you need to. The course is broken up into sections that you can easily take as you have time.
You also don’t have to sit in a classroom with other students and worry about being asked a question. You control your method of taking the class, the pace that you’re most comfortable with. When you complete the course you can download your certificate. You will then go to the range of your choice that provides the shooting portion. They will give you a 1 hour orientation, required by the State and you will do your shooting portion of the requirements.
When you go to do your shooting portion, you will need to take 50 rounds of ammunition for your handgun.
You will be firing from the following distances:
- 3 yard line – 20 shots
- 7 yard line – 20 shots
- 15 yard line – 10 shots
- Rings 8, 9, and 10 = 5 points
- Ring 7 = 4 points
- Outside the rings but inside the silhouette = 3 points

You will need to score 70% (175 pints out of 250) Very few people have problems passing the Shooting Qualification.
After you complete your shooting qualification, you will need to get your fingerprints. All of this will be submitted online to the State. They will do a background check then issue you your license. You will then enjoy the advantages of your new LTC, to include being able to carry in 27 other states that recognize the Texas LTC.
